Argentinian Wine Tasting Dinner

24th April 7pm

4 courses | 4 wine pairings | £55

The Tack Room’s wine tasting dinners have become a firm favourite amongst the wine lovers of Newmarket and beyond. Since launching our first event back in February 2017 our wine tasting dinners have travelled to Chile, Australia, South Africa, Burgundy and even the Champagne region of France for our decedent Pol Roger tasting. For our next wine tasting dinner we have finally decided to visit the beautiful Mendoza region of Argentina with our hosts from  Bodega Ruca Malen.

Argentina is the fifth largest producer of wine in the world and Argentine wine, as with some aspects of the Argentine cuisine, has it’s roots in Europe, particularly Spain and France. Mendoza is one of the most important wine regions in the country, producing more than 60% of the Argentine wine. Due to the high altitudes and low humidity the vineyards rarely face the problems and grape diseases that affect vineyards in other countries. This allows cultivating with little or no pesticides, enabling organic wines to be easily produced.

Ruca Malen’s dream began in 1998 when Jean Pierre Thibaud and Jacques Louis de Montalembert confessed to each other the desire to build their own winery in Mendoza. Back then, Jean Pierre was leaving the presidency of Chandon Winery Argentina after 10 years, whilst Jacques Louis had acquired a solid knowledge of winemaking in the Bourgogne region.

Since its first harvest in 1999, Ruca Malen aims to achieve the highest quality in wines, focusing on style, elegance and distinction.

We have wanted to do an Argentinian wine tasting since we first started hosting these events but it was very important to us that we did this with the right producer who we believe embodies everything that we all love about Argentinian wine. The Tack Room is thrilled to have producers from Ruca Malen joining us for this dinner to talk us through the stunning wines that we will be tasting.

We will also have our head chef Adam Spicer talking us through his delicious four course menu which will feature Argentinian delights such as slow cooked lamb shoulder, chimichurri and cured salmon and lime marinated shrimp. To view the full menu and wine parings click here
